DattoSSS wrote:Very true mate. I just feel from 12 months on the servers that the reality no-one wants to admit is that most of the server population is leading a PvE game, and they complain bitterly when they get raided. From that all those rules are borne.

I see a lot of merit in having a PvE server and a PvP server, PvE doesnt need 3 pages of rules and the PvP server can be a full blown wipe or be wiped scenario with only the mandatory rules, about 4 lines worth.

In my case, real life is so busy I need PvE. It's as simple as that

I have to agree with DattoSSS. I spend all my time too busy just doing my own thing, farming, building, bteeding, I'm for pvp but not having my base destroyed, hence why I came from official servers.
Not sure if there is anywhere in between full pvp and pve where we have base protection but can still pvp. That way raiding isn't really a thing but people can still pvp with dinos or 1 on 1 at drops etc. Possibly drops can be customised to be valuable and a real danger zone (like kishko's pvp server atm, got a full metal 1x1 base on a blue drop) I had no idea drops could be customised.
Also what do people think about No Flyer or a similar mod for immersion

I like the idea of offline raid protect, and agree that increasing dino taming/breeding time may also encourage more pvp as well as having a pve server for those players to go to. The other issue is that there are a few players on Munki's servers who I've spoken to who seem to actually prefer pve, but are sick of the trolling/griefing that can still happen on pve servers when the pve system is abused. So they come to Munki's server's because they can choose not to engage in pvp (or at least raiding), and have a very active admin to help look after them. This then means that pvp is not that common, even on weekends, compared to servers where it's full blown pvp. ORP also doesn't have to be a mod, one of the last servers I played on had it, and it was set as commandlines in the .ini file:

?PreventOfflinePvP=true
?PreventOfflinePvPInterval=1800

This meant that when the last tribe member logged off, a 30 minute timer would start (inceasing the number obviously increases the timer). After 30 minutes, their structures and dinos would have ORP. This also allows defenders to not abuse ORP (too much) by combat logging when faced by raiders as the raiders would then have 30 minutes to still do whatever damage they pleased to the base. But on that server, there was also no real 'rules' when it came to raiding. People could wipe if they wanted to, or kill passive dinos. It was then up to the players to defend their bases and keep their dinos safe and engage in server politics to have backup when needed. Most of the time, the raiders were fair and avoided targeting the passives off to the side of the defender's main base. Players also very rarely acted like dicks luckily as the alpha tribes on that server usually acted as the moderators to a certain extent along with the admins who played as well. There were the odd trolls of course, but the system seemed to work for the most part and pvp was alive and well. I agree that finding a balance isn't easy, and of course there will always be some players who aren't 100% happy because it doesn't suit their play style.

The only problem with the official ORP is alliances needs to be disabled. That is a big issue. The reason:
People have an alt account with a base built, pin code everything then login with their main in as an ally and use the 'untouchable base' and login once a week with the alt to keep demo timer up.

I also agree taming needs to be upped, i previously played on a 5x server and it was perfect, I came here expecting the same as the server names says 5x yet it's set at 2.5x
Had the discussion with a few in game and they all thought it was 5x too ...

Taming speeds are just fine, we don't need them any faster.
